STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ON THE PLAN OF UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

Universities not only maintain education and training activities in cities in which they are located, but also they occupy an important position in the identity of the city as they convert social and cultural responsibilities, which they have undertaken, into activities. Universities incline to expand physically in the regions in which they were founded in accordance with progress and demand. Therefore, they cause sprawls in places where they are founded and also they cut off the connections between places. As this situation causes some problems, making indoor and outdoor areas connect with these places and planning the landscape design of communal area are needed. Particularly, the opinions of student, who are the most significant human resource of universities, related to the issue is important because they spend more time in campus. From this point of view, this study, by evaluating the opinions of students, who study in Department of Architecture, in Safranbolu Fethi Toker Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Karabük University, is about the opinions on planning university campuses within the scope of “studio of landscape design” class, which is taken by the students in term. The data which was obtained from the students by implementing questionnaire technique was evaluated at IBM SPSS 23 program. The results were interpreted as being fit for the purpose and it was detected that students’ opinions on the plans of university campuses differed in accordance with the years of the students.

Üniversiteler, bulundukları kentlerde sadece eğitim ve öğretim faaliyetlerini sürdürmekle kalmayıp, üstlenmiş oldukları sosyal ve kültürel sorumluluklarını faaliyetlere dönüştürerek, kent kimliğinde önemli bir yere sahip olmuşlardır. Üniversiteler kuruldukları alanlarda genişleme ve ihtiyaç doğrultusunda fiziksel olarak genişleme eğilimindedirler. Bundan dolayı kuruldukları yerleşkelerde dağınıklığa sebep olmakta ve mekanlar arasında da bağlantıları koparmaktadır. Bu durum bazı sorunlara sebep olduğundan, açık ve kapalı alanların bu mekanlar ile olan bağlantıların oluşturulması ve ortak kullanım alanların peyzaj tasarımının planlanmasına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Özellikle üniversitelerin en önemli insan kaynağı olan öğrencilerin konuyla ilgili görüşleri onların yerleşke içinde daha fazla vakit geçirmelerinden dolayı önem arz etmektedir. Bu düşünceden hareketle bu çalışma Karabük Üniversitesi Safranbolu Fethi Toker Güzel Sanatlar ve Tasarım Fakültesi Mimarlık bölümü öğrencileri görüşleri değerlendirilmek suretiyle onların dönem içerisinde almış oldukları peyzaj planlama stüdyosu dersi kapsamında üniversite yerleşkelerinin planlanmasına ilişkin görüşlerini konu edinmiştir. Anket tekniği uygulanarak öğrencilerden elde edilen veriler IBM SPSS 23 programında analiz edilmiş, sonuçlar amacına uygun olarak yorumlanmış ve öğrencilerin sınıflarına göre üniversite yerleşke planlarına yönelik düşüncelerinin farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.
