Aim: The main aim of the study is to reveal that the analytical and objective data presented by the space syntax method contribute positively to the jury evaluation process of urban design competitions. Method: The awarded projects in a finalized project competition were evaluated using the analytical tools of the "space syntax method", and the results were compared with the project reports, the results of the competition and the jury reports. In this context, the study was carried out on Gebze Historical City Center Urban Design Project Competition concluded in 2005. The problems expressed in the competition specifications, the required program and the statements of the jury report published after the competition were interpreted together with the analytical values obtained by the space syntax method and the positive and negative aspects of the method were discussed. Using the method of space syntax, the data obtained - axiality, convexity, integration, connectivity, and intelligibility- were analyzed. Results: The syntactic data of the three awarded projects with the current situation of the project area were determined by space syntax analysis. Conclusion: It is predicted that the space syntax method will be included in the jury evaluation process and will contribute positively to the competition projects from an analytical and objective perspective.
